What is Mailbombing?

Mailbombing is euphemism used by abusers to describe what regular users would usually classify as "spam". Its purpose is to annoy or harrass the target. There are many ways to abuse someone (the target) with mailbombing:

  1. The target may be the forged sender. In this case the target will get nasty grams from the recipients. The target also gets a large number of mailbounces, which also fills their email boxes, and may cause them to lose important email.
  2. The target may be the email recipient. In this case, their mailbox is filled up with junk. They lose email, and may be forced to change their email address as a result.
  3. The target may be in the body of the message. In this case, a fake product is seemingly advertised by the target. The target gets nasty grams from the recipients. The abuse may result in spam complaints, and if the ISP isn't careful in its investigation, the target's email account may be terminated as result.
